The Global Goals

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Miriam's work contributes towards the following SDG(s):

Goal 03: SDG 3 - Good Health and Well-beingGoal 04: SDG 4 - Quality EducationGoal 08: SDG 8 - Decent Work and Economic GrowthGoal 14: SDG 14 - Life Below Water

Supervised Research Degrees

I am currently supervising three PhD students, 1 ResM and 2 MRes:

- Caitlin Dye (ARIES-funded PhD, 2nd supervisor, October 2024 - ): Complex relationships: exploring the role of the diatom microbiome in host-parasite interactions.

- Matthew Doherty (CRISP-funded PhD, 3rd supervisor, October 2024 - ): What key ecological and environmental mechanisms drive coral resilience to marine heatwaves?

- Molly Blyth (ResM, DOS, September 2024 - ): Understanding the impacts of soft coral dominance on hard corals in North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

- Beatrice Cantieri (MRes, DOS, January 2025, MRes): Thermal resilience of聽Halimeda: assessing the impact of ocean warming on a key reef-building alga.
