Key features

This 20 credit degree-level module is designed for health care professionals to provide the underpinning knowledge of anatomy and pathophysiology of critical illness in adults.

At the end of the module you will be able to:

• critically analyse the impact of pathophysiology on the acute and critically ill adult and to understand altered physiology
  
• critically explore the consequences of acute and critical illness on homeostasis
  
• debate and critically analyse altered physiology to understand key treatments
  
• analyse clinical symptoms of critical illness and rationalise evidence based clinical care.
  

This module can be studied as a standalone module, as a core module towards the BSc (Hons) Professional Development in Critical Care or as an optional module towards some other BSc (Hons) Professional Development pathways - please contact the Professional Development Unit for further information.
